Robax Platinum Information

Robax Platinum (Ibuprofen & Methocarbamol) is a fixed-dose combination drug used for the short-term relief of acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions where muscle spasm and localized inflammation occur together. It is used to treat acute lower back pain, often triggered by lifting or sudden movement. It is also used to relieve neck strain and tension, as well as stiffness and pain in the cervical spine, including acute torticollis (wry neck). It may be used for symptomatic relief of muscle strains caused by overstretching or tearing of muscle fibers (also called a pulled muscle). Also, it is used to relieve sprains caused by stretching or tearing of ligaments, tough bands of fibrous tissue that connect bones at a joint. It is also used for general soft tissue trauma associated with muscle spasm resulting from athletic activity, minor accidents, or physical overexertion.

Robax Platinum, through its active components, works via a dual-action mechanism that simultaneously addresses pain at the site of injury and in the central nervous system. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes. This action stops the production of prostaglandins, which are the chemicals responsible for causing localized inflammation, swelling, and the activation of pain signals at the injured tissue site. Methocarbamol, a muscle relaxant, acts directly within the brain and spinal cord as a central nervous system depressant. It reduces overactive electrical signals running through the spinal reflex pathways, slowing the involuntary nerve commands that tell muscles to tighten, ultimately easing the muscle spasm.

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to ibuprofen, methocarbamol, inactive ingredients in Robax Platinum, or any other medication. Before using this medication, ensure you inform your doctor about any medical conditions you previously or currently have, including the following:
• Active infection;
• Bleeding problems;

• Electrolyte imbalance, such as high potassium levels;

The safety and effectiveness of using this medication have not been established for children under 12 years old. This medication is also generally not recommended for adults over 65 years of age without consulting a physician, due to an increased risk of gastrointestinal, kidney, and central nervous system side effects.

Ibuprofen can blunt the blood-pressure-lowering efficacy of antihypertensive medications and increase the risk of acute kidney injury, especially in the elderly and individuals with dehydration. Likewise, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen reduce the excretion of lithium by the kidneys, leading to elevated blood lithium levels and an increased risk of lithium toxicity. Therefore, it is important to inform your doctor of any other medications you are currently taking, including herbal products and supplements, to determine whether they are safe to use with Robax Platinum. This medication is not suitable for use by pregnant women, especially in the third trimester, as ibuprofen can cause serious fetal heart and kidney complications and can delay labor. While the ibuprofen component is generally safe on its own, it is unknown if methocarbamol passes into breast milk or how it affects the infant. Therefore, using this medication while breastfeeding is not recommended. Store this medication at room temperature, protect it from light, and keep it out of the reach of children.
